In depth

Verdict

A very tricky finale can go to Film Queen, who is preferred to Tapas Lad and Strut The Stage; while Capped For Victory is 'thrown-in' from his current rating so will be a big threat if he recaptures any of the sparkle he showed during his time with Sir Michael Stoute. Now under the guidance of the irrepressible Alan Swinbank, Capped For Victory has the benefit of a clean bill of health after he finished seventh in a handicap at Beverley last week. That was his first start for two years and considering he was rated 100 at his best, he could easily brush this lot aside were he to pull something out of the hat, so market support will be very interesting. Strut The Stage has been very hard to get right and is yet to win a race from 24 previous attempts. Still, there is not much strength in depth here and he has very little to find to make the rest aware of his presence. Tapas Lad ran a good race to finish second at Wolverhampton last time out and will be thereabouts if he can register a similar effort today. However, Film Queen fits a similar profile and, as she has far more scope for improvement, she is selected this time around. The Brendan Powell-trained filly makes her turf debut in very modest company and, as she is sure to represent good value in the betting market, Film Queen gets the nod as our idea of the best bet in the last at Bath.
