Off Beat has course and distance winning form to his name and that sways the vote his way in a trappy sort of contest, where stakes are advised to be kept to a minimum. Others to consider are Tag Team, Melody King and Arfinnit. The selection starts off 1lb lower than his highest winning mark here and thus has a chance is he can reproduce the sort of effort that saw him win over course and distance on firm ground in September and also on the polytrack at Lingfield in December. His latest run at Windsor can be forgotten on account of the ground and he is taken to enjoy the drop in the weights and score. Tag Team is equally at home over five and six furlongs and should enjoy the fast ground, though whether he handles the track is open to question, while Melody King looks capable of running well enough off this mark, but may just find the task beyond him and a place may be his best hope. The same can be said of Arfinnit, who drops back significantly in trip and is due to be dropped by 3lb soon. He won't necessarily be in love with the firm conditions either and may have to wait his turn or another win. So the selection then, is Off Beat to defy top weight.
