In depth

Verdict

Modmin and CAPTAIN CLARET (NAP) are both improving three-year-olds. Jim Crowley’s mount easily landed the odds at Goodwood but has to give 8lb to Eve Johnson Houghton’s impressive course and distance winner taking into account Georgia Dobie’s claim. Poetic Force was also successful over track and trip last month but has been done no favours by a 7lb hike in the ratings taking on younger horses. Medieval is an infrequent winner and Alfie Solomons is hard to catch right while Viaduct may do better with this run under his belt.
