With blinkers on for the first time, Pomfret Lad can reverse Sandown form with Little Edward to score, while the Jamie Spencer-ridden Bandanna, a beaten favourite, also at the Esher course can go well. Pomfret Lad weakened from halfway in the Listed event won by The Tatling, and was well held by Little Edward who himself made no show. However, Peter Makin's charge did not get much room in running at halfway and was not persevered with by Richard Quinn. That was his first outing since May and it seems that he has taken time to get totally fit. This smaller field should ensure no traffic problems and he can bounce back with the aids on. Bandanna was also unlucky on the Sandown card not getting the clearest of runs behind My American Beauty. He is another on a retrieval mission and should not be discounted, while Roses Of Spring makes a quick reappearance after running well behind Proud Native at Newmarket. Byo was only caught on the line by The Best Yet here last time and a similar front-running effort may at least see him hang on to a place again, but Pomfret Lad gets the vote.
