The market should tell us if we have another Sir Mark Prescott improver on our hands in Jack Bean on a first start since wind surgery. He showed little last season when only beating two rivals in three starts but this is his chosen race from a host of entries and his trainer is a master with such types. Tregony came good in pleasing style last time and should progress again but HER WAY (NAP) is the selection. Trevor Whelan has struck up a fine rapport with the hat-trick seeking filly who cleared away to score in decisive fashion over course and distance recently. That was only her fourth start on turf and she could well have more to offer. Anniemation has place claims.
Plansina 15-2 (9-9) Slightly awkward start, keen towards rear, switched wide and some headway over 2f out, kept on under pressure to take 3rd close home, 3rd of 7, 7 3/4l behind Her Way (8-11) at Bath 1m 2f hcp (6) gf in Jun.
Magical Dragon (IRE) 66-1 (9-2) Midfield, soon tracked leaders, ridden before 3f out, weakened, 10th of 13, 7l behind Plansina (9-0) at Bath 1m 2f hcp (6) gd in May.
On The Right Track 11-1 (9-4) Chased leaders, pushed along over 3f out, outpaced by leaders over 2f out, ran on into 4th briefly over 1f out, slightly short of room and lost ground well inside final furlong, plugged on, 5th of 14, 4 3/4l behind Villanelle (9-1) at Leicester 1m 4f hcp (6) gf in Jun.
Her Way 7-4fav (8-11) Chased leader, travelled strongly to lead over 2f out, ridden clear entering final furlong, pushed out, won at Bath 1m 2f hcp (6) gf in Jun beating Nastasiya (9-3) by 3 1/2l, 7 ran.
Tregony 7-4fav (9-7) Keen tracked leaders, ridden over 1f out, challenged inside final furlong, led towards finish, won at Nottingham 1m 2f hcp (6) gf in Jun beating Lady Ziana (8-12) by 1l, 9 ran.
