In depth

Verdict

It's a long way for Grand Canal to come for this and he hasn't run since July but scored over the track and trip after a break in 2021 and has won on good to soft. Masqool has a penalty for last week's Lingfield success and he's never raced over a trip this far nor won on Turf. Reach won a Pontefract maiden over this trip on good-to-soft and didn't appreciate being dropped back in trip there next time. The lightly-raced Atlantis Blue is still a maiden but showed enough last summer to suggest he'll be winning soon while Gastronomy has shown plenty of potential though takes a big step-up in trip. CABRAKAN stays further but conditions are in his favour and he's been in winning form over timber so might be good enough. V Twelve won a soft-ground handicap at Windsor in October and a recent run over timber should have put him spot-on.
