A small field for the day's showcase handicap, and the ultra-consistent Tiber Tiger is fancied to score again, at the main expense of David Loder's Anglo Saxon. The latter created a very favourable impression on his debut at Beverley in May, when bolting up by seven lengths. Unsurprisingly, he was favourite for his next start in a classified stakes at Sandown, but raced far too keenly and finished well down the field. If learning to settle, he could be a different proposition here and has to be respected. Zeuss' sole victory came on the all-weather, while Captain Ginger would have strong claims on the pick of his juvenile form but has yet to show he has truly trained on. So the safest bet has to be Tiber Tiger. Nick Littmoden's gelding has improved throughout the season and carries just a 3lb penalty for a good win at Newmarket last week, beating San Antonio by a length and three quarters. Tiber Tiger seems to handle most conditions, and is hard to oppose in this company.
