Kempton winner Trooper Clarence was beaten less than two lengths when second off this mark at Wincanton last month and is unlikely to go down without a fight. But he may just be worth opposing with chasing debutant DEPUTY DOG, who attracted market support over hurdles at Warwick last time on the strength of a promising fourth to the smart Spirit Son at Huntingdon earlier. The return to a shorter trip will suit and he's preferred to fellow newcomer Flicka's Witness and the more exposed Mujamead.
