Verdict

King Ottokar, a dual winner on the Flat, is improving with experience over timber. Gentle River won the bumper on this card 12 months ago and Keep Running won a maiden here last month having a first run in the UK, though is penalised. Basford was highly tried after winning a Carlisle bumper last season but one could not fail to be impressed by SERGEANT WILSON at Taunton in the spring. Despite bolting on the way to post, he won his bumper by 17 lengths and looked as though he could have gone around again. The former pointer Imperial Alex may do better over fences.
