In depth

Verdict

Chalonnial and Fortified Bay have both won bumpers this year and along with Viserion, who has won three times up to 1m4f on the Flat this year, are interesting recruits to hurdling. Burrows Park kept on nicely when only beaten a length at Plumpton and looks certain to improve. Jockey bookings suggest Santo De Lune will be the pick of Harry Skelton’s two runners but, despite a penalty, we’re loathe to oppose GOING FOR BROKE. Rebecca Curtis’ gelding finally, a bumper winner on soft ground, began to reveal his potential when beating a subsequent winner, now rated 134, in a maiden at Uttoxeter in May and followed up at Worcester. He’s had a break but could be one to follow this season.
