Lieutenant Gruber has a nice turn of foot, which he put to good use here in May and again at Uttoxeter last month. In between, he was second to a subsequent winner at Stratford but he does tend to take a hold and the step up in distance today is not certain to suit. He is also conceding 14lb to DARK SUNSET, who won a mares’ maiden at Uttoxeter and stayed further between the flags so will try to stretch the likely favourite’s stamina. Neither Kalanisi Glen nor Orchardstown Cross can be completely ignored but have a bit to find.
