Kilcullen Flem has scored between the flags and has performed well enough in three starts over hurdles to be given a good chance here though BOY IN A BENTLEY looks the one to be on. Kim Bailey's charge did well enough in a couple of bumpers last spring to suggest he wouldn't be long winning over hurdles and made a promising start at Huntingdon last month when only just failing to hold off the short-priced favourite Board Of Trade. Armarissis was having his eleventh start between the flags in Ireland when dead-heating at Dromahane two years ago and hasn't run since but Mahler Lad is the interesting one in the race. He beat the high-class Bellshill in a point in Ireland two years ago but something has obviously gone amiss as he was pulled up on his hurdling debut at Kelso in December.
Armarissis (IRE) 7-2 (11-11) won at Dromahane 3m mdn gd in Apr beating Keep Back (12-2), 8 ran.
Boy In A Bentley (IRE) 12-1 (11-4) Always prominent, led before 3 out, jumped right and not fluent 2 out, stayed on, held towards finish, 2nd of 12, 1l behind Board Of Trade (11-4) at Huntingdon 2m 5f mdn (5) gs in Feb.
Kilcullen Flem (IRE) 5-1 (11-12) Led, driven and headed approaching 2 out, soon ridden, kept on same pace, no impression before last, 4th of 7, 10l behind Get Involved (10-11) at Newbury 3m hcp (4) sft in Mar.
Mahler Lad (IRE) 4-1 (11-0) Chased leaders, lost place approaching 6th, soon beaten, tailed off 4 out, pulled up after next, at Kelso 2m 7f mdn (5) hvy in Dec.
Midnight Owle 200-1 (11-4) Held up mid-division, weakened from 4 out, tailed off, 9th of 11, dist behind Treaty Girl (10-11) at Huntingdon 2m 5f mdn (5) gs in Feb.
