In depth

Verdict

A big field for the bumper but the ones to concentrate on look to be Wychwoods Legend, Day's Over, It's A Discovery and Similar Fashion and we will take It's A Discovery. Donald McCain put down 13,000 Gns at the Doncaster May sales on the strength of a couple of points to point wins for the mare, who makes her racecourse debut here. Those experiences will do her good, her dam was a bumper winner in Ireland, and she should act on the ground, so with the yard going well she is taken to score. Wychwoods Legend won a Stratford bumper on debut and that was a decent performance in context, but her ability to carry a penalty to a follow up is in doubt. Day's Over made a pleasing Newton Abbot debut last month and can impove to take a closer hand here. Watch the market for the chances of the newcomers, best of whom is likely to be Nicky Henderson-trained Similar Fashion, but preference is for It's A Discovery.
