In depth

Verdict

Innox and A Glass In Thyne are fascinating contenders but this should be straightforward for Carruthers. Mark Bradstock's novice has gone from strength to strength this season and this first attempt at 3 miles should go some way to clarifying his choice of engagement at Cheltenham. An admirable effort in defeat to Lodge Lane was surpassed when he routed a small field in a Grade 2 at Warwick. It's possible to pick holes in that form but it was still a commanding display. Coorbawn Vic and Bringewood Fox have one or two pieces of vaguely interesting form but A Glass In Thyne and Innox, both better known as chasers, are the obvious threats. The former has plenty to prove on his return from a long absence whilst Innox, who has had just the one start over hurdles in his career, is taking his first steps en route to a crack at the National. It's hard to see either troubling Carruthers.
