In depth

Verdict

Richard Johnson's presence on JACK STEEL takes the eye and Lucinda Russell's charge is fancied to go one better after finishing second over timber at Perth last month. He'll need to improve further on his chasing bow but should have the edge on his main rivals with that run under his belt. Dr Moloney finished second over fences at Hexham in May but only a length ahead of Ueueteotl and that pair are hard to separate. Retrieve The Stick was runner-up over hurdles at the same track also back in May and makes his chasing bow along with Newcastle hurdles winner Un Noble.
