Verdict

MONBEG RIVER was making his chasing debut when winning easily at Perth on his reappearance. He's upped 10lb but there looks plenty more to come over fences and he is preferred to the more exposed Harrys Whim. The latter has been raised 5lb for scoring at Hexham, only his second win over fences in 20 attempts, but he should confirm running with third-placed Ballycool. Carters Rest was in good form earlier in the year and went close at Cartmel off today's mark in June but Throthethatch will find this tougher than the chase he won at Perth in May.
