It was heavy ground when Maysong went close at Nottingham and Leapers Wood disappointed over today’s trip last time having placed over 5f earlier. Dick Datchery may well finish closer on the back of an ordinary debut effort here but several of the newcomers take the eye including MASTER MCGRATH. The latter doesn’t stand out on pedigree but an entry in next month’s Gimcrack at York suggests Kevin Ryan’s colt is held in some regard and he gets the vote. Custodian is the first foal of a Listed sprinter, Shadow Leader is a brother to a Group 3 winner and Panist is worth a second glance for the Johnston yard.
