Verdict

West Highland Way is the one that they have to beat, with Newmarket raider Oh Golly Gosh preferred to the other pair My Pension and Queen Lucia as the main danger. Ian Semple always likes to have one laid out for the Scottish track and West Highland Way has been well galloped in readiness for his return. He ran some good races in defeat as a juvenile including when seventh to Peak To Creek in the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy last Autumn and has major claims on that form alone. The ground should be perfect for the son of Foxhound who runs here rather than at Haydock so the hint should be taken. Oh Golly Gosh is a lot fitter, having had four outings already. Nick Littmoden's charge was just beaten in heavy ground at Newcastle in April and has continually been found wanting over a mile. On breeding he should be stepped up in trip, but instead connections opt to try him over a lesser journey. That is off-putting, and with My Pension and Queen Lucia being brought along steadily, and neither looking ready to strike yet, West Highland Way has obvious claims-if anywhere near fit, he must be a confident selection.
