Verdict
Only a handful make any appeal here, and we look to Samuel Charles to follow up his recent success at the expense of Online Investor and the reappearing Pop Up Again. It is hard to see anything other than one of the trio mentioned coming out on top, and as Samuel Charles has already proven his worth, Mark Brisbourne's charge is the pick. The six-year-old has adapted well since his bumper days with Venetia Williams and in addition to scoring on the Polytrack at Lingfield, was more recently successful over a mile at Redcar just four days ago. That was in classified company, and he does not look overburdened for this return to the handicap ranks. In addition, connections feel that he will be much better suited to today's trip as he barely got the mile at Redcar, where he battled home despite holding his head high. Online Investor was second at Thirsk last time and being sprint-bred, cannot be backed with confidence over this longer trip, although he may hang on for a place. Pop Up Again just about got the trip when gaining her one and only victory at Newcastle last October. Without a run under her belt, she too is opposable, and in a race that will not take too much winning, Samuel Charles is the one to be on.
