A lottery of a sprint in which the draw and conditions are both likely to play a part. The three-year-old Broken Wings is still a maiden and conceding weight all round but has been making gradual progress and might be suited by a first try over the minimum. Danehill Desert has finished second four times this year, including on soft going last time. He might be a better bet than recent winners Pavers Pride and Brendan while Liamba would need the ground to dry to end a frustrating sequence. It’s difficult to completely rule out any of the others, though the bottom five are all racing from out of the handicap. Locally-trained STAR CRACKER will have the far rail to help and David Egan is doing the steering. A regular here, he’s not been running badly yet is now on his lowest-ever mark so has a better chance than most.
