Verdict
Michael Dods has won this twice in recent years so his Rock Of Gibraltar newcomer Lord Of The Rock, whose dam has produced winners with her first two foals, is one to keep an eye on. Lostock Hall definitely improved for his debut when staying on nicely over this trip at Newcastle while Kevin Ryan's Properus found things happening too quickly over 6f on fast ground at Pontefract and this should prove more to his liking. COUNT MONTECRISTO also represents Ryan and has really caught the eye of Middleham Park Racing, who purchased him for 115,000 euros at the breeze-up sales after he'd changed hands for 20,000 euros as a yearling. He holds entries in the Dewhurst and Racing Post Trophy, which may not be over-optimistic if he makes a successful debut and is given the vote to do so. Richard Fahey holds a strong hand with Carlisle runner-up Jewelled Prince and Henrytheaeroplane. The former has obvious improvement in him but the latter looks the form pick on his first two starts and can be forgiven a moderate effort at Chester.
