    Verdict

After a couple of starts over longer trips and then encountering heavy ground at Deauville last time, POET has had his excuses since finishing an excellent second to Workforce in the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown in May. He looks to have leading claims here and gets the vote. Hot Prospect is hard to catch right but is capable of going close if on song, while Vesuve bounced back to form in a conditions race at Epsom last time and looks to repeat last year's win in this race. Cracking Lass needs further and Zafisio doesn't look good enough.
