In depth

Verdict

Eyre Square could be of interest first time out over fences having shown some promise over hurdles for Keith Reveley but he will need to be useful to get the better of GANSEY, who is marginally preferred to Mirage Dore. Rose Dobbin's gelding receives 4lbs from the selection and was decent over hurdles but he did not convince over the larger obstacles in his first two starts over fences; however, he ran a lot better when successful at Market Rasen last time and if in the same mood today he will take some beating. Heather Graham's Mr Woods is surely better than he showed than when pulled up behind Its Teescomponents at Newcastle last month and he makes more appeal than Martin Todhunter's Rico Hombre, who is less exposed than his rivals after just four career starts but needs to improve on all known form to trouble the judge. The vote then goes the way of Sue Smith's Gansey, who was going well before unseating Richard McGrath at Warwick last month and he looks worth another chance having shown a decent level of form in all previous starts over fences.
