Amalfi Doug is a specialist at Perth having gained all five victories on that track, the latest in a Class 2 handicap in September. Bigirononhiship scrambled home over this trip at Wetherby on his reappearance a year ago then showed his staying credentials when landing the Scottish Borders National over an extended 4m at Kelso. Today's conditions will make this a real test of stamina and he will be difficult to keep out of the frame. However, CAVENTARA started favourite for that Kelso event and was bowling along when coming down though too far out to draw any conclusions. He had won a novices' handicap by 10 lengths on the same track earlier and is taken to gain compensation for that latest mishap. Glittering Love won his first four starts over fences, the last three of them over this track and trip, early last year. He shot up the weights and only had three runs last season but showed plenty of potential and should get into contention.
