In depth

Verdict

A tough race in which Interdit, Royal Emperor and Hussard Collonges are among the leading players and Interdit is handed a tentative nod. Kelso specialist Interdit has to respected in spite of a hike up the ratings. He is best when put out into the front and stays well. His jumping is his Achilles heel and he can ill-afford any jumping errors at this level. Royal Emperor showed very little on his return from absence. He is a class act when all is well and should not be written off too readily ¿ especially if there is market support. Hussard Collonges does not appear to be the same horse he once was. On his very best form, he looks absolutely thrown in but recent runs have inspired little in the way of confidence. Leading Man has won a race at Wetherby this year but he has looked desperately one paced against better novices and probably needs it a good deal softer to be at his best. The Bajan Bandit is tried over chase fences after an abortive campaign a couple of seasons ago. He did not strike as the most natural of fencers and is left alone. Cheltenham festival winner, Another Rum is an interesting runner. He has been campaigned over hurdles in order to protect his handicap mark and is watched in the market on this occasion. Interdit is accordingly selected.
