In depth

Verdict

Delray Beach looks an out and out stayer and he gets the nomination here, with Almire Du Lia and Ryminster two with obvious claims. The selection has been outpaced at crucial points in his last three outings but had previously been seen to best effect over a similar trip at Sedgfield on testing conditions. His jumping is not electric but he can plod to victory here. Almire Du Lia won this race at 10/1 last year and warmed up for it nicely with a comfortable success her e at Ayr just eight days ago. AS long as the race doesn't come too quick he must hold a great chance, although the fact that he is 7lbs higher than last year could be a worry. Ryminster is just out of the handicap but certainly has claims on ground that he handles well, whilst Black Smoke would be more at home on better ground. All in all this looks a decent opportunity for the one-paced Delray Beach to continue his trainer's good form.
