In depth

Verdict

Course and distance winner Nelson Du Ronceray may struggle to give 8lbs to recent winner Soubriquet and so the last-named gets the vote, with Rossin Gold another with claims. The selection stayed on well at Kelso last time out and as testing conditions seem to be the key to him, he looks sure to run a big race today. He gets on well with his young conditional (who is making waves at present) and with his age-for-weight allowance, he could be hard to peg back from the front. Nelson Du Ronceray won with plenty in hand over course and distance just eight days ago when he appreciated the drop to this trip, however he doesn't look blessed with a lightning turn of foot so he may just find himself outpointed at the business end of things. Rossin Gold disappointed last time out in a handicap at Kelso, however back in trip on softer ground today he could put up an improved showing. The only positive for Mitrash appears to be his stable's good form, and therefore we have no qualms with returning to Soubriquet to make good use of his weight-for-age allowance and go in again.
