Gypsy George won his first two starts this season prior to disappointing when pulled up in the Welsh National last month and Tim Walford's gelding looks best watched following his Chepstow run in a race taken to go to JASS, who gets the vote with Malko de Beaumont rated the pick of the remainder. Keith Reveley's gelding is less exposed than most of these over fences but he showed decent form in a handicap two starts ago and a similar effort off just a 4lb higher mark today may well suffice. Peter Monteith's First Look was good value for his win here in November but he has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper for that success and now looks best watched, while Something Silver is hard to recommend after his latest start here last month. Howard Johnson's Frankie Figg ran better at Wetherby last time but needs to improve on that effort again to trouble the judge. Malko de Beaumont comes into this in good form having won the Tommy Whittle last time but a 9lb rise for his Wetherby success makes this tougher and it may be worth taking a chance with Jass.
