Plenty of these are out of the handicap so we chance The History Man against Highland Song and Newkeylets. The History Man is somewhat exposed but he handles this surface well and it is interesting that Paul Mulrennan, rather than a girl apprentice, has been booked for this afternoon's assignment. Highland Song has to be respected as a previous winner at the course. With questions to answer about the going, we prefer to look elsewhere. Newkeylets is still a maiden after 16 starts but has threatened to go close on a number of occasions. Five furlongs and the prevailing conditions could suit. He would need to reverse form with Signor Whippee and Alan Berry's charge looks sure to try and dominate proceedings from the off. Hows She Cuttin is entered to run over at Musselburgh on Sunday so could be a doubtful runner. Rothesay Dancer ran well at Redcar on her latest start although she is unproven on today's surface. The majority of Tender Process's form has come in smaller fields so he is something of an unknown quantity when a true run race obtains. The History Man has plenty going for him under these conditions and we side with Mick Easterby's representative on this occasion.
