Verdict

King's Pavilion ran green when runner-up on his debut over the trip at Leicester and will know more today. But BIRKDALE had obviously been showing plenty at home ahead of his introduction over course and distance last month as he started a short-priced favourite. He blew the start or would have got closer and can recoup losses. The booking of Graham Lee for newcomer Duncan Of Scotland catches the eye while Dark Defender is probably capable of better than he showed at Haydock.
