A competitive 29-runner line-up for the Victoria Cup but Selective, raised just two pounds for an unlucky Newmarket defeat, can get back to winning ways. He was held up off the pace on that last run but, ridden a little closer to the action, can make his fitness pay. King's Ironbridge is certainly entitled to be competitive from a mark of 97, as is Lincoln Dancer (who is closely weighted with stablemate Onlytime Will Tell on their Ripon runs last time), although the latter seems to prefer easier going. Mystic Man comes here on a three-timer following his Newbury Spring Cup winner, in which Golden Chalice (now 6lbs better off) was beaten just over two lengths. It is a very competitive event but it would be no surprise to see the likes of Pentecost run well. Whatever happens, he'll pay his way through the season.
