Coolfitch won at Ayr last month and went close again at York a fortnight ago. Shamshon won at Newmarket recently when beating Top Boy with Monsieur Joe and SOIE D’LEAU further behind. But that was the latter’s best effort so far this year and it could be his turn again today having won off a higher mark in this grade at Doncaster last season. Gravity Flow, Yalta and Copper Knight have all been competing in pattern company of late though the latter landed a couple of handicaps in May and is 6lb higher today.
