In depth
Verdict
A wide-open sprint, one for the proverbial pinsticker, but we will opt for First Order ahead of Artie and Baltic King. The lightly-raced First Order has to be respected from the in-form Sir Mark Prescott stable and he certainly has the look of a gelding who will just keep on getting better. He was only just denied at Newmarket last time in a competitive race and, judged on that, Connect will find it tough to confirm Newmarket form with the selection on revised terms. Baltic King is just three pounds higher than for his course and distance win last season, so he looks set to go well, Pivotal Point attempts a quick course and distance double success so comes here in good heart, although he might not want the going to be too firm, and Artie has proven that he is more than capable of running well in these types of races from around today's mark. In addition, there are a whole host of familiar faces and possibilities among the field and it promises to be fabulous race, and one that might just go to First Order.
