This is a race that's gone to some smart types over the years and this year's renewal looks suitably interesting; we'll take a chance on FIELD DAY landing it ahead of Decorative, Chachamaidee and Alsace Lorraine. Brian Meehan's filly won a strong-looking maiden last term and was supported to make a winning return to action at Nottingham where she just needed the run and had to settle for second. Her supporters didn't have to wait long for compensation though as she won nicely at Salisbury last time and while the form of that leaves her with improving to do, we're of the belief that she's capable of doing just that. Decorative arrives here unbeaten and is sure to attract support. She's rated 4lbs superior to our selection but the form of her victory last time has taken a few knocks and at the likely prices we're happy enough to oppose her, although this slightly quicker ground will suit. Chachamaidee finished well beaten at Royal Ascot having made a winning seasonal return so while on paper she's got solid claims perhaps Henry Cecil's filly is best caught fresh, while Alsace Lorraine is another whose rating entitles her to respect but she's surely best suited by big fields and plenty of cover. Flora Trevelyan saw plenty of daylight when all the rage at Pontefract and could do better returned to a right-handed track while Gracious Melange can also do better if she learns to settle. I'm A Dreamer deserves a shot at something like this but will in all likelihood fall short and Blue Angel only has an ordinary maiden success to her name, so in a race that throws up more questions than answers we'll chance Field Day at a price.
