Verdict

Some top yards are represented here and again support for any of the newcomers would need taking seriously, but JEHANBUX looked a winner-in-waiting on debut and can go one better by beating Titus Mills and Dream Achieved. Richard Hannon's $70,000 purchase is related to a number of winners and went down by a narrow margin on debut. The form of that race hasn't been tested yet but normal improvement should see him get off the mark here under almost identical conditions, in the process enhancing the yard's fine record in this race. The market should help separate Titus Mills and Dream Achieved but without that guide the former makes marginally more appeal. Brian Meehan's charge cost plenty and is a half-brother to a pair of juvenile winners at this trip, so conditions look ideal for a bold show providing he's straight enough on debut. Dream Achieved's half-brother High Award won on his debut, albeit as a three-year-old, so there are signs that he could be up to going in at the first time of asking. A greater test of stamina will suit in time but Barry Hills' juveniles are going better now than was the case a couple of months ago, so keep an eye on betting movements. Noonenose shaped as though in need of the experience on debut and should improve but he needs to while Azrael took fourth in a race that's working out but also needs to have come on. Lemon Drop Red represents 2008's winning yard and needs a look in the market but, as with the others, he'll need to be smart to be Jehanbux.
