Verdict

As befitting a full brother to St Leger winner Lucarno, Thought Worthy kept on well for pressure when fourth in the Epsom Derby having raced up with the pace throughout. The Doncaster classic will be his long-term aim but he should make his presence felt here and can confirm Newmarket running with Frankel's brother Noble Mission over this longer trip. Astrology finished ahead of Thought Worthy at Epsom, however, having won the Dee Stakes at Chester on soft ground earlier. He's the one to beat on that form but it could be worth taking a chance that SHANTARAM's win in a Newmarket maiden will have boosted his confidence. Only beaten three-quarters-of-a-length by Derby runner-up Main Sequence at Lingfield on his previous start, he's closely matched with the O'Brien colt on that form and is possibly still improving. Farhaan, Initiator and Thomas Chippendale all have something to find to figure.
