Ivy Creek can get the better of Deepwater Bay, with Petrovich, Leningrad, Purple Moon and Invention others that can make their presence felt. Ivy Creek went into many notebooks when beaten narrowly in the Group 3 Dee Stakes at Chester, and is taken to gain ample compensation here. Geoff Wragg's colt, successful on both his first two outings, at Warwick and Sandown, still looked far from the finished article when beaten by Art Deco on the Roodee, but even so, he was flying at the finish after getting trapped on the rail as they turned for home. The form of that race has worked out quite well, with the winner subsequently beaten just a length in the French Derby, and so this Listed contest should be well within Ivy Creek's gasp. Andrew Balding thinks the world of Deepwater Bay who lowered the colours of the odds-on Escape Clause at Kempton in April before chasing home that one's stablemate Final Verse in a soft-ground Listed affair at Goodwood. He was clear of the third and is definitely up to this class of race. Back on faster ground, he should go close. Petrovich looked the part when landing his division of the Wood Ditton and is pitched in at the deep end here. However, the stable are still on cloud nine after Arafa's St James's Palace Stakes victory and he is worth a mention at least. Leningrad flopped in the Dante when only fourth but the ground would not have suited him, and although he is no Motivator, Michael Bell still has a good horse on his hands. Purple Moon and Invention both have improvement in them as well, but if there is any justice, then Ivy Creek is the one to be on.
