Chopin wasn't beaten that far in the Derby considering he was short of room in the closing stages. Still, he has a penalty to carry in this and a bit to find on collateral form with Indian Chief. The Ballydoyle colt found subsequent Derby runner-up Libertarian too good in the Dante at York last time and makes more appeal than Newmarket 2000 Guineas third Van Der Neer as the latter steps up in trip. Secret Number was well beaten in the Dante but SHIKARPOUR finished a creditable fifth over today's trip in the French Derby at the start of the month. Given that was only his second start, Alain De Royer-Dupre's colt can be expected to show further progress and that could well be enough to see him come out best in this. Remote, Kitten On The Run and Elkaayed are others likely to improve but have some catching up to do to match the raider from France.
