Ireland has captured the last two renewals and have a couple of strong contenders in Alive Alive Oh and Just Pretending. The former beat a Ballydoyle-trained filly in a Navan Listed event last month so Aidan O'Brien will have a good line on the chances of Just Pretending, third in the Irish 1000 Guineas and expected to stay this longer trip. Oaks form is represented by The Lark, who ran a terrific race at Epsom and would have finished closer to the winner with a clear run. Connections be hoping the forecast rains arrive, however, and she had earlier found WINSILI too good at Newbury. John Gosden's filly returned the impressive winner of the Swettenham on that occasion and her powder has been kept dry for this. She gets the vote with her more exposed stablemate Gertrude Versed in danger of being superseded by one or more of a lightly-raced contingent made up of Elik, Waila, Fersah and Riposte.
