Sub Lieutenant won seven times in Ireland and generally raced at the highest level. But the veteran has been off the track since July and is having a first run for Georgie Howell. Flying Angel is back on a winning mark and ran a nice race in the Grand Sefton at Aintree on his second start of the campaign while both Espoir De Guye and Quarenta made winning reappearances on this course, though Venetia Williams’ charge is trying a new trip today. THE CONDITIONAL, a winner at The Festival in March, was third in the Ladbrokes Trophy three weeks ago and finished ahead of Beware The Bear and Ardlethen with Mister Malarky and Regal Encore, the winner of this 12 months ago, failing to complete. The latter can never be ignored around here but will do well to stage a repeat off his current mark.
