In depth

Verdict

Jack Kennedy is one of Ireland's leading claimers on the Flat and over jumps. He's having just his second ride over hurdles in the UK today but steered WOODFORD ISLAND into second place in a competitive handicap at Punchestown 12 days ago and Gordon Elliott's four-year-old can go one better. The unexposed Pithivier may provide the biggest threat, even though he was raised 13lb after winning at Southwell. Duke Des Champs only beat two rivals at Market Rasen but should have more to offer and Shadarpour is consistent. Sebastian Beach looked to be on the way back at Chepstow and Masterplan won here in October before finishing third to the well-treated Unowhatimeanharry at Newbury. On a line through the latter, he probably has the beating of subsequent Leicester winner Goodbye Dancer.
