Verdict
PEACE ENVOY was beaten on his only start in soft ground but not by far and the Ballydoyle colt has subsequently won a Listed race over 6f at Naas. He should be in the mix whatever the underfoot conditions. It was soft going when The Last Lion made a winning start in the Brocklesby at Doncaster though he hasn’t progressed as well as expected. He was beaten by the impressive Prince Of Lir at Beverley last month while there was some cut in the ground while Legendary Lunch landed the Listed Woodcote Stakes over 6f at Epsom last time. Global Applause has arguably the strongest piece of form in the race having defeated Tuesday’s Coventry Stakes runner-up Mehmas in Listed company at Sandown while Godolphin’s Nottingham winner Silver Line was the most visually impressive of those that that made a winning debut. USA trainer Wesley Ward is no stranger to this meeting and won this in 2013. He runs a filly this time in Red Lodge, an easy winner under John Velazquez at Belmont recently and not easily dismissed.
