    Verdict

A typically-competitive renewal of this heritage handicap. There hasn’t been a winner from among those drawn low since the race was run on soft going in 2012 and all recent winners had run at least once that season. That raises question marks against several including Raising Sand, Sunset Breeze and Greenside, though some who fall into those categories are from yards more than capable of getting one ready at home. Fox Champion ran well on his first start for Ralph Beckett at Haydock but recent rain hasn’t helped his cause. On A Session only weakened close home in last week’s Thirsk Hunt Cup and drops back a furlong while Motakhayyel won the Buckingham Palace Handicap at the Royal meeting here last year, though is still 13lb higher. Harrison Point is better treated and could go well at decent odds under Hollie Doyle but ACQUITTED’s narrow defeat in the Spring Mile at Doncaster is working out really well and Hugo Palmer’s charge shouldn’t be far away again if able to lay up with the pace over this shorter trip. River Nymph was probably drawn on the wrong side in the Lincoln and also warrants a mention.
