Several of these contested last month's Portland Handicap at Doncaster when Confessional finished runner-up to Nocturnal Affair. Tim Easterby's sprinter has since gone close again at Haydock but it's Jimmy Styles who comes out best at the weights today and he's already won in this grade this season. Mayson never figured in the Ayr Gold Cup, having been well backed, while Monsieur Joe disappointed when favourite for a minor event at Leicester last month and has something to prove now. Ajjaadd has won four of his last five starts but this is a step up in class, while Desert Law could be taken off his feet over this trip. MOVE IN TIME, runner-up in the Cornwallis Stakes at this meeting 12 months ago, has only managed to win a three-runner race at Beverley this term but he's been thereabouts in better company than this and can recapture the winning thread today.
