In depth

Verdict

CHESTERFIELD has 9lb more to carry than when successful last year but arrives in terrific form and a repeat is not out of the question. Unison has his ground again and is on a roll after a couple of victories at Taunton. Dear Sire got back to winning ways at Musselburgh, pushing Amour de Nuit down into third place, but Donald McCain also runs recent Haydock winner William Of Orange. The booking of James Bowen for improving novice Michael's Mount seems a statement of intent from Ian Williams and Gordon Elliott saddles Leicester scorer High Expectations. There may be more to come from Havana Beat over hurdles now he’s got his head in front and Final Choice beat a good yardstick at Wetherby. Scheu Time got off the mark in a Thurles maiden last month but this is a much tougher assignment.
