In depth

Verdict

BERKSHIRE ROYAL has obvious claims as he escapes a penalty for winning an apprentices’ race over track and trip during the week. Jason Watson can also claim his 7lb allowance today so Andrew Balding’s charge looks the one to beat. Verstappen went close dropped back to a mile last time and the same comment applies to Trogon while Taifbalady looks a threat stepping up in distance after placing at Newcastle. Whitehall may prove best of those returning to action ahead of Compliance, Admiral Spice and Tommy Shelby.
