Euro champs look to build on their first win of the season

Ian McGeechan still feels there is room for improvement, after Wasps notched their first win of the season on Sunday. The club's director of rugby watched from the stands as the European champions moved off the bottom of the Guinness Premiership with a 28-14 victory over London Irish. After an uncharacteristic start, which has seen them slump to three defeats in five outings, McGeechan now wants to see the club kick-on. "Overall I felt the power to get that result was in our hands, which was nice to feel again," McGeechan told the club's official website. "Our execution could have been better in places but there were a lot of good things going on. We didn't build as well as we could, but overall I thought we played well and consistently." George Skivington, Daniel Cipriani and Tom Voyce scored the tries, with Mark van Gisbergen kicking the rest of the points for Wasps. And McGeechan's side head to fourth-placed Harlequins next on Saturday before their World Cup stars can return.
