Former All Blacks second-row Ali Williams has been suspended by Racing 92 after his arrest for allegedly trying to buy cocaine.

Williams, 35, was arrested at around 3am on Saturday in Paris along with Toulon and Australian player James O'Connor.

Racing said in a statement: "A player of Racing 92 is at the heart of an investigation into the purchase and possession of cocaine. In this context, it was decided to suspend Ali Williams.

"If the investigation confirmed the possession of cocaine and the transaction, it would not only be against the law but also a serious fault in terms of our ethics."

Toulon are yet to comment on the arrest of O'Connor, 26, who has 44 caps for Australia.
