Australian fly-half Quade Cooper is bidding farewell to Toulon just a year after making the move to France.

The 28-year-old is set for a move back to Super Rugby, where he played more than 100 games for the Queensland Reds, and he has been linked with a move back to the Brisbane franchise in the Australian press.

Cooper failed to settle in France and was unable to secure a regular role in their starting XV.

Toulon's outspoken club president Mourad Boudjellal notably compared the performances of the 58-times capped Wallaby to Jonny Wilkinson as going from "foie gras to pate".

"Goodbye. Thank you for everything. I will miss my brothers and family that I now have in Toulon...See you soon," Cooper wrote on Twitter.
