Wales captain Alun Wyn Jones will lead the Lions against the Crusaders

Alun Wyn Jones will captain the British and Irish Lions as they aim to get their campaign back on track against the Crusaders on Saturday.

Jones has led the side before, skippering the Lions in the third Test of the 2013 winning series against the Wallabies, and will be partnered in the second row by England's George Kruis, who makes his first start of the tour.

Owen Farrell is another to make his first start in New Zealand, slotting in at fly-half where he is joined in the half-backs by Conor Murray.

George North features on the right wing, and makes up the back three with Liam Williams and full-back Stuart Hogg, while Ben Te'o and Jonathan Davies form a new midfield partnership.

Taulupe Faletau - who impressed against the Barbarians in the opening game - wears the No 8 jersey, and is joined in the back row by Ireland flankers Sean O'Brien and Peter O'Mahony.

The front row sees England team-mates Mako Vunipola and Jamie George pack down alongside Ireland tighthead prop Tadhg Furlong.

Highlights of the Lions' loss to the Blues at Eden Park on Wednesday

The Lions are in need of a win against the Crusaders after recording a nervy 13-7 win in their opening clash against the New Zealand Provincial Barbarians, before falling to a 22-16 defeat to the Blues thanks to a late Ihaia West try.

The task does not get any easier though, with the Crusaders undefeated in their Super Rugby campaign and having named a matchday 23 with no less than nine All Blacks in the ranks.

"The aim was always to start everyone in the first three matches and this selection ensures that we achieve this," said Gatland.

"This is an experienced team with nine of the starting 15 players having featured in 2013. Our squad is working hard and we are seeing improvement in their performances both at training and in the games.

Christian Cullen believes that the Lions did enough on the night and should have beaten the Blues in Auckland

"Last night's result against the Blues was disappointing and we know we can't afford to give away so many penalties.

"We are looking forward to the clash against the Crusaders and we expect a tough game against the most successful team in Super Rugby history."
